The inverter is in the garage away from loft summer heat and where I can get at it easily.

Thanks.
A quick check, and there are three bolts: bottom right was hidden in the image and top left is, indeed missing. The guy who installed it has retired now (but is still shooting ducks on the pond next to the airport
- bird strike!).
Would replacing the aerial be worthwhile? If so, what do I ask for?
No, just keep an eye on it. If it starts to wobble or sway a lot when it's windy either the wall bolts are coming away or the mast is getting tired (the failure point will be just above the top U bolts or at the lower bend.)
Ideally, let it fall then claim on your contents policy.

OK, but in the meantime, would replacing it for a grouped one with more gain be likely to solve my signal problem?
The problem is that you need to receive 32 to 52 now and soon you will need to receive 41 to 56. You can't really use a grouped aerial. I don't think you'll improve matters by replacing the aerial.
This has reached the point where progress can only be made by someone testing with an analyser. There are so many possible causes of the problem.

Thanks, Bill. Analyser it will be.
