OT USA Radiator question

Hi,

How does this USA steam radiator work? It only has one pipe!

Condensate runs back out the same pipe. Note the way the radiator is fitted sloping towards the steam pipe. There's also an air vent at the other end to allow the air out of the radiator when the system is first turned on. These can fail, and they can be noisy.

No possibility of a vent heading out of the wall behind it ? (it is, after all, only steam)

How about the cooled gases condensing in the rad and running back down the supply pipe ?
