Although it's a bit of a bother, go back into the store and check with the security desk. If they tell you they've looked at it and it was safe, you can only accept they've actually done something.

If they haven't, tell them you're going to phone the police and say that you told somebody in the shop but nothing was done. The police should come round immediately and evacuate the store, costing it a lot of money until the package has been declared safe. Hopefully this will get back to the shop's management, and whoever was in the shop but did nothing will get a bollocking.

You are right - it /could/ have been something very nasty, and these days you really can't be too careful.

A ex-security analyst here yesterday, in the news, declared that the Iranians don't use sleeper cells. Instead, they pay money to a local criminal organization, to terrorize people who are anti-regime. You have to think in terms of how your local crims try to scare people, to understand the threat type.

That cardboard box, doesn't fit the M-O. There are much better places and times, suited to terrorizing.

The pot-holes in the road here, are a terrorist plot. Now, I'm scared.

A supermarket in a Jewish/immigrant/Muslim area would be a good target for some terrorists, not necessarily Iranian. After all, someone blew up Brixton Tesco's, the same day I was there, by coincidence.

Here, someone shot at a Synagogue. That wouldn't be an Iranian. That would be one of our home boys.

The person contracting the work, provides the ID. Give a picture and a street address, they take care of the rest. Occasionally, they even get the address wrong and go after the wrong individual.

Some countries are more "hands on" about their dissidents than others. Two countries have likely flown in teams for various purposes. But if you just want to cause a fuss, we have unskilled labour here available. We may not be able to find someone to drive a nail straight into a 2x4, but if you need "random shots fired", we have people for that.

Not every house with bullet holes in it, makes it to the news.

That's one of our problems. Members of that gang are here. Rounding those people up, would be part of the daily activities of our Guns&Gangs unit.

Not all of our gangs are "pure ethnic". That example stands out, I suppose because they're "gun-happy".
