What's the problem? Surely there is enough wind and solar to meet all our needs?

Yes... Well :)
Wholesale gas just jumped about 20% in price - regretting not switching to a fixed price deal the other week!
Gas facility in Austria (gateway to russian gas) blew up and one of the Scottish pipelines is shut for 2 weeks.

Don't be so sure. Gas going up will affect the price of anything made using energy. And fuel costs will also affect the prices.
Only brexiteers think these things don't matter.

They only seem to think of now. As the pound falling in value is bound to make energy prices go up sooner or later.
Odd, given Brexit actually working or delivering what Brexiteers promised is a long term ganble.

Also a load of nuke capacity down at the mo. Sizewell B statutory outage overrunning, Dungeness B leaking, Heysham leaking water also down a boiler on the other reactor, Hartlepool and Hunterston refuelling.
Good job it's warm and the wind is picking up again!

I didn't realise that the value of the pound dropped by 20% yesterday! Perhaps the recent price hike in wholesale prices was caused by something other than the EU/Brexit?
And, perhaps the value of the pound has more to do with the Bank of England's devaluation policies still bailing out the UK banks?
There is also a long term gamble staying in the EU

Amazing how the remainiacs blame everything on Brexit!

The price of moving air and sunlight will always be unaffected.

The cost of converting those low grade energy sources to something more useful will be affected though.
You really don't understand anything about energy and economics do you?

What exactly do you think I was blaming on brexit? Certainly nothing in that post but you are a brexiteer and are desperately trying to blame your mistakes on anything else.

Well, most would say things like gas and oil have been underpriced recently - looking at history. And two gas pipelines giving trouble is going to have a short term effect.
They changed that when the referendum result was announced, did they?
The status quo is never the same gamble as the unknown.

Amazing the way the pound dropping after the referendum result was announced was good news to Brexiteers. As it would make our exports more competitive. Until the downside hit their pockets, of course. Then they have to invent someone else to blame.
Stick your head back in the Express, harry. Keep away from real life. You just know it makes sense.

No they kept on with the policy. It's just at the point of thee referendum the rest of the world woke up to the fact that if the UK just prints more and more money its value should fall.
What is the status quo with the EU? Do you think that the EU is going to stay the same for the foreseeable future?

You need status quo explained?
No - I hope it progresses to greater unity. Even more so with nutcases like Trump in charge of the US.

Ah, one size fits all. Will this be when all 27 countries are harmonised to the same high standards or does it require all 27 to meet the same low standards?

Judging by how things are so far, it'll be a high standard that some countries just pay lipservice to. The others will sometimes even meet the standard.
