You said last year you'd a Nokia 110. If so you can lock the keypad with IIRC 2 or 3 key pushes. FTAOD you unlock it similarly.

And there's no law against sticking a crib sheet on the back :)

Indeed. It was more a whinge that those numbers seem to be prioritised over the rest of the keypad. I recently invested in a leather sleeve to reduce the occurrence but without much improvement.

My Nokia X2-00 it's the big square button then * . Same for unlock, and it tells you what to do if you press anything else.

The 110 4G auto locks the keypad but leaves 1 and 9 active. There is provision for a security pin but apart from calls and texts on my account, I don't see much risk.

Sorry, I didn't know that or of course I'd not have bothered. Odd as I think some other cheap phones ignore the 1 and 9 too unless 911 is keyed when they ask for confirmation.

Using the code may do the whole job. Yet to be explored:-) I have had one call from the emergency services enquiring if I really wanted them! Curious that they had my home address and business data.

We have all seen that. A Met police consultation document came my way in PDf some years back on setting up a fast access response team, based on mountain bikes to catch those who took to the countryside. We had to point out the acronym for this was FAST, so they called it something else. The problem of course was that by the time you reported it and they got hold of the right team the crim had long since gone unless they were stupid.

A number of mobile phones with physical buttons had/have a rather stupid feature - even with the keypad locked, you can still make a 999 call by holding down the 9 key. It happened to me a couple of times - once at the top of a ladder, with both hands occupied.

It's not so much dialling 1s and 9s but having a (legal) default of a single emergency touch button on one of the 'out of blank screen' which is activate if pocket selecting switch on.

About every six months I have dialled the emergency services this way, usually when taken more strenuous exercise than normal or just climbing over a difficult stile in a hedgerow or just climbing a ladder. I cannot be alone and these days it must contribute a lot to the tally of time wasting calls.

As the phone on/off/lock/unlock* button is a physical button on the side of the phone (as apposed to a touch screen button) it's much easier for it to be pressed when in the pocket.
