Oneway mrror film for glass.

Where can I buy some stick on one way view mirror film? It is wanted to block out a view from the inside, but allow me to look into the room from outside. I realise that to do this, it will have to be stuck on the outside of the glass though.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember Dave saying something like:

Car accessory shop - Chav Delight'O Mobile or somesuch. Silvery window film would do pretty much what you want - I bought some recently for the back windows of my van and it's much better than the stuff I bought some years ago - you can see out from inside, but nearly impossible to make out anything inside from the outside. Only problem is, the adhesive backing will be on the wrong side for your needs.

I'm not sure you have quite grasped how this stuff works. It is very much like net curtains, since there is visibility from the side with lower lighting level towards the more brightly lit side. I am not sure you can get it to work the way you describe.

Many thanks for your quick reply. I have done a second google for it and found an on-line supplier that did not come up before.

I am very much aware of how it works. I used to work in a very secure area and this was the stuff that got put on the windows to stop others seeing what development we were doing. Unfortunately, as you know, when it is dark outside, you can see through it if there is a light on inside.

Many thanks for your reply though :-)

So, run that by me again. You want to look from outside (bright) into a room (darker). How will that work. You can't just change the laws of physics by sticking it on the other surface of the glass.

I would be intrigued to see a link which supported this use.

I agree, I don't think it matters which side it goes, you will always see the lighter side from the darker.

Point painfully taken :-(

No link, but my job at the time was about stealth and that was what was put on our windows, only to be found very badly wanting when it went dark outside when we had lights on inside :-(
