Older styles of lighting - keep for the future or just bin?

Yet again it is clear out time for the large (but somehow full) shed.

I will no doubt find my stock of incandescent bulbs which will go to the tip. Likewise probably CFL which will never be used again now that LED lights are easily available.

I do have a stock of fluorescent tube lights, a few with fittings, but most just in a bulk box (which I inherited via a previous property).

I have some in use down the side of the house. I bought outdoor housings to fit the tubes. However I can't seem me needing another 10-15 tubes any time soon.

I hate throwing stuff away, but if there are more modern replacements at a reasonable cost it doesn't seem sensible to keep hoarding them.

Are people still using florescent tubes, or is everyone LED these days?

Cheers

Still have them in shower/utility rooms at least until the next redecoration. Also in my workshop. You would probably find a taker on freecycle / facebook marketplace / local FB groups.

Don't know how widespread it is but my local council takes florescent tubes for recycling.

Not even if you follow the advice to replace them at 40% of the rated life, in order to avoid too much loss of light output?

I've still got them in places that don't get much use. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I still have them for my visitors, who seem to say they are less harsh than led, though I guess less efficient. Likewise there are still uses for filament lamps and cfls. I'd think somebody might buy them from you myself, I have no need these days since visitors are few. I do think though, that from what people say to me, that the problem is not yet fixed on LED lamps. The spectrum is spiky and unlike any other lighting system. Brian
