Oak Flooring

Feb 15, 2005 3 Replies

Hi,

I'm having an Oak floor layed in various ajoining rooms and I'm trying to find out if I need to treat each room as a seperate room, so that I fit a door strip between each room or can I have the floor flowing straight through into each room.

Thanks

My dad has done this. He ended up doing the rooms separately because of potential expansion problems. Better safe than sorry I suppose.

You are more likely to get away with it if you nail the floor down and don't butt the boards too tightly, leaving 1mm play in each board. This only works if the boards are designed to be gapped or are bevelled.

Christian.

I did likewise, for exactly the same reasons.
