multimeter suggestions

It might be, although like I said it was better than twice that accuracy. Does it really matter if it's indicating 62mA rather than

60mA current drain?

Compared to removing the battery terminal and pissing around putting the meter in series, then because you left something on like the fan blower, having the fuse blow in the meter because its only rated at

2A, then its a lot better.

Besides. I didn't pay anything for it, so I'm not complaining

Not what I meant. Few will afford 200 quid plus for an accurate low current clamp meter. Unless using one regularly.

As I said get one of those battery isolation terminals. You wire the DVM across it, let things settle, then isolate it. Cost less than a tenner.

There is that. ;-)

I get the impression you aren't reading the links. You missed the accuracy even though its stated now you missed the price (£60). If you are tracking down current leaks it is far easier to put the clamp around the wires to see what current is flowing than it is to isolate bits to see what current stops. Well worth the £60 if you do it more than a couple of times a year IMO.
