That was the last bit of generation there, the other unit went last year. This last one had been on reduced power for quite a while. Still not bad for 40+ years.

Another 80 years or so to clear the site though :)

well that's the cheapest way isn't it? just let it 'cool down' rather than have to chop it up wearing radiation suits.

Mind you by 2050 they will have discovered that low level radiation is good for you, probably and it will become a health spa instead.

Step into a Radox Spa. Could buy the slogan from Unilever.

Seriously, it's interesting that the need to rebrand the product never seems to have been needed so the public don't always go ga ga at the slightest mention of radiation. though it means Radiating Oxygen in this case.

Golly. How do they keep it stable in the packet?

"There are three stable isotopes of oxygen that lead to oxygen (O) having a standard atomic mass of 15.9994(3) u. 17 radioactive isotopes have also been characterized, with mass numbers from 12O to 28O, all short-lived, with the longest-lived being 15O with a half-life of 122.24 seconds. The shortest-lived is 12O with a half-life of 580(30)×10?24 seconds."
