Knots

Gentlemen,I'm hopeless at knots, so this explanation will be a bit laboured, I'mafraid...Can anyone suggest a knot which is capable of cinching up tight around(for example) a hook AND can be put under tension by tugging on itsfree end (by which means the rope's length can be shortened and whichwill not subsequently come loose. It doesn't matter if it's hard toundo as will be cut trough with a knife when removal is necessary.I've tried all the usual most common knots and they're all wanting inone or other of the above respects. Once again, apologies for the crapexplanation.CD.

I did, however, subsequently provide a link to a video that showed that. Much simpler than trying to describe it.

I'm sure there must be one knot that satisfies the original criteria in full, but it's proving so much harder to find than I ever imagined. I suspect I'm going to have to go down the route of using two simple but different knots in tandem.

I doubt it. If there was, truckers would use it and they actually use the trucker's hitch instead.

Makes more sense to use the trucker's hitch. That gives a considerable mechanical advantage and that's why truckers use it.
