Kitchen tap water filter for mains cold - alongside softened water

Jan 19, 2025 0 Replies

We have a now failed water filter tap which was installed alongside the water softener in 2012, on the kitchen sink. A skinny one with a separate cold feed which fits into the stainless steel sink. [Thinking about it I could just replace the tap unit.] We haven't used it much.

Long time past we used to have a Britta water filter which produced clear water which in turn made, for example, very clear tea.

At the time I assumed that this was what all water filters did. It turns out that there are varied levels of filtration (who knew?).

What key features should I be looking for to upgrade the level of filtration to match the Britta? Water supply is hard(ish) - hence water softener.

Cheers
