Hello, the outlet from my oil tank is about 4 feet below the level of the bottom of the boiler. If the boiler is off for any length of time the burner "misses" (stutters) and occasionally i need to bleed the line to make it fire. I used to have an in line reservoir (self pumping/filling) but it died (and a plumber said i shouldn't need it). Does anyone know if its possible to get an in line reservoir type thing....or......would a tiger loop help me in any way. All help appreciated.

Is the pump connect via a flexible braided hose, to permit servicing of the burner head?
If so replacing this may help as they tend to become permeable to air as they age.
My own boiler uses a 2 pipe system.
He knows f*ck all about how to install an oil supply properly then! Doesn't it say anything to you when the system worked "with" a resevoir/tiger loop fitted and doesn't "without" it. An alternative is to use a two pipe oil system but replacing the tiger loop is undoubtedly cheaper.
A tiger loop "is" an in-line resevoir type thing complete with an anti drain back non return valve and air seperator
