Graffiti removal

Some local information boards have been scrawled over with what looks like indelible felt pen. I’m guessing some sort of Sharpie pen.

So far I’ve tried white spirit, isopropyl alcohol, paint brush cleaner (that blue stuff from B&Q) and acetone. None of them touched it at all.

Any other suggestions?

Have you tried hot water in case it is water based?

What's the substrate? Is it shiny, or something where the ink will have soaked in?

another sharpie (plus a rag)

Interesting idea. ;-) Can you get clear Sharpies? If our newly ordered “Graffiti wipes” don’t work we might try that.

Some 'indelible markers' seem to contain a plastic that polymerises on contact with the air and isn't soluble in ANYTHING. Mechanical abrasion might be the best bet. Ajax/ T - cut etc
