Well we're flushing radiators so it's all 1/2" 11 rads in series (only one on at a time) from a standard tap, 1/2". But I agree you figures, say ~4m^3.and that's probably a max. Might have been more than 5hrs, it was a fairly full day but stop/start clean filters etc. The amount is going to cover the consumption increase (see other post).

Check that none of your WCs are leaking/running all the time. When one of mine did it ran more water in a few months, less than six, than I'd used in the previous 20 years.(Fortunately I didn't have to pay for it; it was written off by Severn Trent.)

Good shout and I'll double check though there is nothing obvious. I did have a cistern float a fraction too high so it hadn't quite reached switch off before the level reached the overflow but I fixed that last January.
The main bathroom toilet cistern float is perilously close to reaching the overflow pipe and last year I rearranged the plumbing in the loft to miss out the tank and go direct to the mains. The cistern also had one of those water saving devices (basically a bag of water) which I took out, mainly because that toilet didn't seem to have an adequate flush. It has been fitted with Severn Trent modified dual flush mechanism though.
To put some figures on things, the last year or so has seen consumptionat an average of about 305l/day whereas a couple of years or so ago it was nearer 200l/day.

You are discussing a snipped and out-of-context quote and you have zero clue what it means. Marx spent pages explaining what he meant. Let me give some more, all Karl Marx verbatim:

Marx was talking about Capitalism - Private Property in a very particular sense meaning the bourgeois ownership of land, housing, factories etc, everything EXCEPT what you might term private chattels and everything which we all recognise can be publicly owned for the benefit of all.

Well, in fairness to the TS, he did use the example of housing, which by Marxist theory would have a very different, collective, form of ownership.
I think the OP's problem is taking a slice of Marxism and then trying to make a nonsensical conclusion. The notion of collective ownership has a number of preconditions - not least, an awareness that housing is not a commodity (even though it's treated like one), and the transformation of the capitalist economic system (so, not markets to allocate goods and services). Alongside the preconditions, abolition of private property makes more sense. Well, to me anyway :-)

I took mine outside, clamped them in my B&D workmate, connected the hosepipe to one inlet and then rocked it to and fro until the water exited nice and clean. Gave a whack with a rubber mallet a few times for good measure.
One mistake I did make was ejecting the internal baffle from one of the single panel rads with the pressure of the water. This presumably was at the mid point of the bottom 'rail' and is (I assume) intended to stop the water taking the easiest route through the rad and not spreading the heat throughout the panel ?.
These rads were all bottom entry+exit, whereas I believe the most effective connection is top-in, bottom-exit ?.

I thought bottom in top exit was preferred. Most are bottom in bottom out which is nearly as good

Possibly lots of leaks if you have an older system with copper pipework buried in screed where the pipe insulation has degraded or was poorly done when the house was built.

In a previous car the rad was bottom in, top out on the same side.

Nah it's TBOE, hot enters at the top, loses heat as it descends to the bottom and exits at the opposite end. About 5% better than BBOE IIRC.
For the record I mains pressure flushed my rads in situ one at a time using forward and reverse flushing with a bridge connection setup. Boiler and pressure relief out of the circuit.
