Fix wireless HP print/scan power save fault.

Mine has this problem but it is not connected to the mains except when I'm in the office, because I have a master switch.

My Epson actually does power down after a while in standby. If it is Wi-Fi connected, not surprising, as that must take some power. My laptop does the same, but disconnects from Wi-Fi in the resting mode, and takes about as long to reconnect as booting from scratch.

My HP scanner on USB used to do this a lot. It seldom recovered after the PC had been in suspend mode for any length of time.

I solved it by configuring my printer and scanner peripherals to be always powered down when the main PC is asleep or in low power mode.

Do you really need to print at any time of day?

I presume it ends up a bit too sleepy and fails to respond to the Wifi.

It would be handy with a remote printer?

It's more scanning actually. Everything important (DWP/NHS etc) received via snail mail gets scanned. So there can be a few days in between uses.

When I worked from home, the printer got a lot more use. It's only since my last job I've had this issue.

Yes, but it's still a faff trying to unplug the power lead etc.

Anyway, I needed to scan today, and it worked first time and flawlessly. It's my tribute to the USSRs mirror on a stick low-tech monitoring solution :)
