Finding the plans for my 1950's house

Am about to move into a 1950's house...any idea how I go about finding the original plans ???

The original owner lived there from new until about 18 months ago - builder bought it and did a refurb.

Go to your local authorities planning office. They will have the plans that were submitted for planning approval. Usually they are most helpful.
