Felt roof repair - strip/tape?

We have a ground floor bay window with a flat roof felt covered (black - no grit). The wood at one end, touching the wall, had rotted from the end grain. During removal of this piece of rotten wood I managed to crack the felt that was nailed to its top edge and the layer above that which folds over the edge of the wood. Any suggestions for a repair - other than strip the whole lot off and redo it? Basically need about a yard of felt say 6 inches wide - 2 yards for a double layer. Only have the usual sheds in the area and their stuff all seems to be green with white grit. The only black stuff seems to be underlay. Have plenty of felt adhesive and clout nails.

I would be tempted to say that once you have a rot problem your felt is ipso facto beyond economic repair.

I would strip and replace..maybe a local BM could advise with what is the best product.

I would use lead, myself :-)

Just about the only thing that seems to work, and even then you have to arrange for joins to be done over raised battens.

Last about 1 day on a ground floor bay, I would think, and even less in some areas...

In the case of my neighbour, it lasted about 30 seconds, nicked by a couple of pickies as it was being offloaded from the roofer's van. Roofer said it's very common, and the last thing you do is go after them, that is unless you want all the windows broken overnight.
