Fein/Works vibrating tool thing looks useful - is it so in practice

The old Fein like mine (Allen headed bolt to hold the blade rather than quick release) will take any blade. The newer ones with the star fitting are more fussy.

Lidl had their multi tool and spare blades on sale only a couple of months ago. And sadly yes - they don't fit my Fein. Holes only - no slots. I'll keep an eye out for the Aldi ones, though.

I've a Bosch one and tools from various sources have all fitted. It's one of those tools that the professionals use continuously and most amateurs ra ndomly, so unless you have deep pockets or see 'professional' level use, lo ok for one of the cheaper versions - they all work well.

The most difficult problem that it solved for me was mortice and tenon join ts that had been nailed - the tenons had rotted and I could not get the nai ls out of the mortices. The multitool with a cut down metal cutting blade d id it quickly and perfectly.

That made me giggle. I was just going down the rat thread, and reading about different guns and their ranges. Next down arrow to the next thread, and I got this.

So - would a .410 or a .22 be better for making a neat hole in a tile :)

A .410 would shatter a tile to smithereens (it's a shotgun!). Normally, a .22 air rifle would break a tile into several pieces but if you make use of the 'diesel effect' then, yes, it will punch a neat entry hole in a ceramic tile without shattering it.
