update:



i call electrician and he tells me that martin should not have wired the shower into the 15 amp plug like he did and that cable was too thin.



he has rewired it into the fusebox and everything works ok (although he says the house needs rewiring sometime next year as the sockets are obsolete(?))



not happy as it cost me £180 on top of the money i gave to martin to install the shower but there you goes.

Are they ordinary 3 pin sockets? I wonder if he might have been confused as to part M (?) which stipulates heights and other accessibility options. There is no need to rewire existingsockets.

If they are 15A (round pin) yes they are, and the wiring and fusebox probably is too.

It's bad enough if Martin did this thoroughly appalling bodge as a favour, but for him to charge money for it is disgraceful. Legally speaking, you could probably sue him for the additional cost, but at the least you should get your money back from him. I'm tempted to suggest introducing his kneecaps to your heaviest hammer.
