I had an Echo 2-stroke petrol strimmer; did me well for many years. Whether that's a recommendation for the rest of their stuff, I don't know, but I'd buy Echo stuff again if the need arose.
The strimmers and hedgecutters seem to be well regarded in the professional field, though I haven't used them. Tanaka also get good reviews. The old Tondu hedgecutters with the robin engine were good, I had one for many years and I think they are now marketed as Dolmar.
