The aim is to regularly drain the remaining concentrated solution/ water from the steam vessel before it runs dry and the dissolved solids are deposited. Steam boilers use a similar system of automatic partial blow-down & re-filling with fresh water, whilst in operation, when the total dissolved solids reach a certain concentration.
