Unlike the fan heater, I know where the wallpaper stripper is and couldn't be bothered to dig it out. I imagine it's good for getting into those stubborn corners that seem to hang on when the rest is clear of ice.

They do. Mine are Mission 752 floor-standers.

Bear in mind that steam can get very hot, so be careful with bits of thermoplastic mouldings or panelling.

Indeed. Although I don't suppose my hot air paint stripper much safer on foam insulation. The current freezer has a metal liner.

Right. The new freezer has arrived and is installed. Careful measurement of the interior shows it is indeed 198L capacity.

Probably half the empty weight of the original. Thicker steel, saturated insulation? Who knows. The underside shows a rust patch so an upthread comment about wet insulation may be relevant. I am not planning to investigate further on the basis it owes us nothing after years of service.

Next job is to try adapting the old wire basket to suit the much narrower enclosure without offending the user:-)
