depth of trap.

We are moving our washing machine to a place where the most convenient waste water disposal would be a vertical foul water pipe some six ft below the toilet entry.

Clearly I will have to build my own trap out of 1 1/2 plastic pipe, to stop drain smells entering the kitchen. Would a 1 1/2 inch deep trap be OK or should I go for 3 inch deep trap?

??

Why can't you use a standard washing machine trap?

Another option, if you want to save on space is a HepVO trap.
