Damn Woodworm

I picked up some of my 'nice wood' that has been languishing in my ex's dry garage - maple, ash, mahogany, beech in 2" rough sawn planks.

When I got it back home I noticed little tiny holes.. some woods much worse than others. So I kept it all outside, well away from my workshop.

I tried to recover it by sawing off the infested bits and making a few small bits with what was left, but I still found tunnels inside it when it was sanded up.

So that's that for all of that wood, and presumably for the rest of what's left behind over there now.

Oh well, at least it's bonfire night soon so I wn't have any trouble finding a fire to put it on.

Yes it's funny how they go for stuff in some garages and not others. The holes mean they've gone by the way.

They seem to like some woods more than others. Oak, blackthorn and sycamore seem to be rendered unto powder surprisingly quickly, whilst hazel seems not to be to their taste - in my garage at least.

No one with a wood burner you could donate it to? Where are you...

Malvern/Gloucesterish.

TBH there isn't that much 'nice' wood gone, just a few bd.ft of each. Lots of pine in bits and pieces, it's basically the bits that were too big to throw and too small to ever get used that are still there...
