Cost of a garage/workshop

Thinking of buying a house that doesn't have a garage - but does have a place to put one. Anyone have any idea what it would cost to pour a concrete slab [1] and build a decent quality timber garage/workshop on top? Double garage, plus enough space to put a few tool cupboards, workbench, band saw... OK. Not the band saw. I don't really need it :). Nor the lathe. Or the planer/thicknesser.

Cambs, as it will matter.

As this is a DIY group, around £2500-£3000. If you have to pay someone, probably double that.

You could cut costs by building your own shed/garage. I built one for about £1500.

OK, thanks. Less than I expected. Maybe I can have the bandsaw :)

Make it a triple. You want room for a car as well.

Taking up valuable space in a garage? What a waste...

Huh? The car has to fit in so I can work on it!

Actually if all goes well the car will sit in there all week while I cycle to work and get fit. It's getting on a bit (90,000 miles/14 years) and it isn't made any more so I want to keep it.
