Chancers...

Had a visit from the biggest heating firm in town (local firm) today for a quote.

I had to remove my 3-year old combi from the wall as the layout of the kitchen was changed. Asked then to quote for refitting the boiler - approx.

20cm from the original location - all pipes are still in place and just needed to be extended a little. Could do it myself, but as flat is going to be rented I preferred them to do it and provide me with a certificate.

They informed me that they do not fit "2nd hand" gas boilers... I was quite amussed, and asked for a quote for a replacement boiler - supplied and fitted. The answer: £1200! When I informed him that I can buy the boiler retail for £430 he argued that they need to drill a 4" hole for the flue. I told him that I would hire the drill for £42, and have it ready for them when they come. His answer: well then, only £1100!

Time wasting idiots, too many builders like that now. Either theyre all poor or all pulling it off, not sure which.
