I recieved a letter today telling me I had overstayed my welcome at Waitrose car park on the 9th of June
The letter stated its date of issue was the 26th of June.
The envelope has no date information on it that I can read.
According to the Protection of Freedom act 2021
- the issuer must issue the notice of contravention no later than 14 days after the offence was committed
- A letter is deemed to take no more than two working days to reach its recipient
I have appealed on the basis that the letter itself shows more than 14 days elapsed before a notice of the offence was even prepared, and it could not have been sent less than 5 days later than that.
Anyone else tried this line?
