My current car (downsized to Skoda) has all the lights indicated in the instrument panel. It also bleeps at you if you try to get out without switching them off, and the fog lights have to go off first.

They leave the handbrake off for a quicker getaway, but it's quicker with the handbrake off.
I usually lower the visor and look at the reflections in the bonnet to tell me when they've moved.
Tht's the same result by another name, still auto adjust.
Not enough space there for the lights on a DII... When you switch it on it lights up like a "council house at xmas". There are 27 warning/indication lights in the instrument panel.
Yes.
What front fogs will do is make the area nearer the car brighter, so the numpty thinks they can see more. Unfortunately that area isn't the important bit if you're going any more than "really quite slow like you would in heavy fog", and the bit further away which contains the things one should be looking for is no lighter. Worse, the eye will compensate for the brigher stuff nearby which will make the further stuff appear dimmer.
That Alzheimer's is a bugger.
ITYM on, it is a lot quicker to leave the handbrake on and apply a bit of gas in the semi auto smart I have been driving. Then the clutch has engaged a bit and it goes straight away. There is a noticeable lag (about 300 msec) otherwise.
I was once sat in a traffic queue behind someone whose rear fogs were on. It was a clear night. I got out and asked him to switch them off. His response was "This car doesn't have rear fogs". I said "Yes it does, look you can see the warning light there" - pointing to the amber light on his dashboard. He said "Oh, I wondered what that was..."
The obvious solution (used by VW, I believe) is for all auxiliary lighting to be switched to "off" when the ignition is switched off. (You know what I mean, pedants!)
It's so you can identify wankers at a distance.
I find the PSA cars worst, the BMWs etc not so bad, myself.
The Passat lights are lousy from the point of visibilty of the indicator if the brake lighta are on, but they don't seem too flickery.
On my Peugeot 406 they turn off with the main light switch so accidentally leaving them on just can't happen. Begs the question, if one manufacturer can do it, why can't they all?
Most car electrics now turn the fog lights to OFF when the headlights are turned off.
ie OFF means that the driver must manually switch them back on and that they do not come back on when the headlights are turned back on.

How good is your eyesight?

Most do these days.
I may have the real excuse.
Front fogs - instead of headlights - enable the other idiot to see me in conditions of low light where I don't need the headlights to see where I'm going.
And unlike the pop-up headlights, they don't wreck the aerodynamics. So I'm being green :)
I _never_ use them both together.

I know what you mean :) Fair enough, but other than the left-right dip and which side the fog light is on .... For instance unless they've been updated in the last few years, the lighting regs do not allow the use of LED or HID lights IIRC, they specify a particular power of filament lamp, however where a lamp has been approved as part of the vehicle approval, it is permitted to be used in the UK. Where lamps are fitted as aftermarket replacements, there is a danger that the driver could be prosecuted - even though the lights themselves are E marked. This has been discussed a number of times in some of the kit-car groups.

You can't do much driving in the Thames Valley, then.
If by any chance you do, can you please let us know where and when - so we can be sure to avoid being out on road when you are. ;-)
There are a lot of cars without fog lights and even more drivers that don't use them when its foggy so both of us will be safe as you will be staying at home. 8-)
You completely avoided the question. No surprise there.
