Can I put a little sloping roof on the side of my house?

Is there any law stopping me putting a little sloping felt roof, say

10foot long and 3 foot wide, off the side of my house to cover my bike instead of me lifting it in and out of its storage box every time I want it.

Is it a planning issue, or if it is wooden can I do what I like given that it is temporary by nature?

Thanks Ed

Most likely you can do it without planning perm, but why not phone the planning dept?

And what if it blows away in a gale? These things aren't just screwed to the wall like a wooden shelf you know. A length of 10 feet, and a width of

3 feet, isn't a small canopy. You also say you want to cover it in felt. So it is an actual roof structure you want? Why not make a little light weight metal frame. Screw it to the wall. Cover it in light weight polypropylene clear corrugated sheet. A quarter of the weight of an actual timber felt roof. Nice to look at on a sunny day. Doesn't need permission because it is classed as a lean to for weather cover.
