A small screwdriver (or indeed the tip of your Stanley knife blade) slipped under the latch will release them without the dangers of cutting them.

You know how when you buy any electrical appliance, the flex will be neatly bundled together and secured with a short length of plastic-coated wire, with its ends twisted together?

I have box-fulls of old wall-warts, miscellaneous connectors and cables which I'd like to tidy up a bit (so I can see what I've got), and would like to get hold of a small reel of that stuff to do it with.

I'm sure it will be available cheaply on ebay, for example, but what do you call it? All permutations of cable/tidy/wire/flex etc are bringing up a million items, but not what I want...

Thanks

Was amused today to receive the following ebay missive from the Hong Kong seller of the above item:

"Regarding to your item: 50M Universal Tie Wire Twist Strapping Tape Kitchen Thin String Gardening Green

We are excited to inform you that our Mr. Pigeon has started off and covered 25% of its journey. As stated in our auction, the shipment will take about 10-25 days during the delivery. Please be patient and wait for the arrival of your lovely item..."

Thanks Mr Pigeon, I'm waiting here in pants-wetting excitment...

And bizarrely, I've just received another identically-worded message from an entirely different Chinese seller, for an entirely different item!

Just googled; and the wording crops up all over the place; eg a blog post from 2008:
