depends on the height of your single story, whether they have to set it out, lay foundations etc...
AND what part of the country you live (c;
approx 3.5 metres high against party wall (one leaf, screw ties), 2.5 at other side. I lay foundations, they lay bricks from the foundations to floor level, I lay the slab, they lay bricks up to roof level. I do the rest. In the Midlands. I suppose I just need to get some quotes. Cheers, Simon.
Work on £1 per brick.
Seriously. And a good brickie can lay 75 - 100 bricks per hour according to another post.
100 quid an hour. Really ? Simon.
Simon, you're forgetting the tea breaks, toilet breaks, etc..
I've no doubt that brickies can lay x bricks an hour, but whether they'll lay those bricks for you all day long is another matter...
Bricks will be 30p, mortar maybe another 10p..then there is laying out etc.
Depends on what is involved.. If you have the footings in and just hire a brickie at 150 quid a day, and pay for all the bricks...they can, as a pair, generally lay between 1000 and 3000 bricks a day.
So say 300 quid a day for a two man team, thats about 10p-30p a brick.
Add in brick costs and mortar, and its up to at least 75p.
Slightly more expensive bricks, or a couple of hours spent fiddling around with strings, or a trip too replace some cement..I'd say a quid a brick built is a fair estimate.

Is that including the cost of the bricks and the mortar and the scaffolding etc?
