Bidet toilet seat

After going to Japan four years ago I was massively inspired by their amazing toilets with built-in bidet functions.

I did some research on my return and concluded that having one here would not be easy to achieve, not least because our water regulations are tighter in regard to back-flow and preventing it.

I'm now considering getting one of these bidet seat devices - the company is very well reviewed and I wondered if anyone had any experience of this company or such devices

I do like a bidet[1], but that seems massively complicated.

Do you have room for a separate bidet? That's what we do in Italy. I find it an unnecessary complication to have a bidet+loo combo, considering the bidet is not only for your no.2 but also for the ladies' no. 1.

Not sure a tub of aqueous cream is quite the answer!

No room for a separate bidet

In that case, the order would be:

- Number one

- Feet

- Number two

Americans would use it an additional drinking fountain.

In Argentina we have a bidet in the main bathroom and a "Bidematic" attachment to the toilet bowl in the small one. Googling Bidematic in the UK brings up the original, Argentine, product but also links to several nicer-looking units available for very reasonable prices on amazon.co.uk and I dare say available elsewhere in the UK too.

If DIY-installing a bidet or attachment, DO NOT MAKE THE BIDET THE FIRST PLUMBED CONNECTION FROM A SUPER-HEATED WATER TANK. Don't ask me how I know this. Just don't.

Bidets usually have mixer taps (for warm, rather than hot, water).

That one looks a bit chilly.

Was it Freddie Truman who, on being educated as to what a bidet was, said. "Aye, we have those in Yorkshire lad, we call 'em flannels" ?

Some disability stores have bidet sets that look like large inner tubes with Velcro fittings. I don't have room for one in my bathroom. Brian
