Focus's DIY stores (not their online shop) give a 10% discount to recent homemovers. I think this is for 3 or 6 months after the person has moved home.
Do any of the other big DIY chains like Homebase or B&Q offer the some sort of discount to recent homemovers?
Focus also do 10% off on Tuesdays for pensioners.

And just how do you convince them that you've " just recently" moved in?
Show them correspondence from your solicitor saying that you have completed.
Great Mills used to do it but I think they've gon now.
