aluminium house walls - comments?

We are considering buying a house in southern Norway which has aluminium walls. Strikes me that it's not optimal, to put such a big fat vapour barrier on the cold side of the insulation.

What are the usual ways of avoiding damp problems? If we view the house, I'll get my nostrils into gear to check for pongs of damp or mould, but what else might I look for?

Cheers,

Michael

It's OK so long as you have an equally good (or ideally several times better) vapour barrier on the inside too. Even though aluminium is a good barrier, there will probbaly be trickle ventilation in there.

Being really cold in the winter helps too. Although they might have "damp", it doesn't turn into the "mould" that we'd see in the UK until Spring. It's obviously something to avoid, but thhe consequences of humidity in places where you don't want it reduce with lower temperatures. OTOH, Southern states of the USA are a nightmare!
