Air (lock) in hot water supply

A friend has a shower in a bungalow which is gravity fed where the hot water side seems to have a near permanent air lock.

The feed comes off the expansion pipe rather than any dedicated flange so is not ideal.

The air lock can be cleared by lowering the shower rose and putting the temperature on max, however the next day it needs clearing again.

Are there any simple methods of fixing the problem?

Move the take-off to somewhere more sensible than the expansion pipe.

Traditionally by temporarily connecting the cold mains tap to the hot and blasting it through in 'reverse'; however if this is a recurring problem (is it definitely?) then that's probably no more help than what he's already doing.

It is a recurring problem, and the cold feed also comes off the header tank to match pressures, so not so easy to blast mains pressure through the "hot" pipe.

I was wondering if there were other means or removing air as per heating systems, but I guess there's always the risk I might drag in more air.

I am aware that is the ideal method, but was hoping for a easier method to eliminate the symptom, rather than the cause.

connect kitchen cold to kitchen hot: that's (kitchen cold) usually mains pressure, and blast.

The hot water pipes separate in the attic and I'm guessing the airlock is in a dedicated shower pipe. The kitchen and other bathroom taps run fine.
