13 Amp Socket System

Yes, I'm surprised at how difficult (near impossible) it is to find vertical multiway sockets with the sockets angled, it makes much more sense than all the sockets being vertical so the wire hangs down over the one below.

Hospitals use staggered sockets to avoid that, e.g.

That might suit me except it says the sockets are switched and as far as I can see they aren't and the price, no wonder the NHS is so expensive!

I use something like that in my bedroom where I use 7 sockets and next to my seat in the lounge where I need 4 or 5. Builders just haven't caught up with modern power needs.

Think is all my AV stuff - rather a lot - is on glass. Meaning all the leads have to be pretty well custom length to avoid it looking a mess. Or an even bigger mess, to be accurate. So if you're going to cut down mains leads (etc), you might as well fit a smaller plug. There are nearby 13 amp ones for the odd thing you may want to add temporarily.

You can fit 6 IEC outlets to a 2 gang blank plate. But best to fit a shaver depth back box to leave plenty room for the wiring.

I have three of these. One permanently live for the things that need it, and two switched by the pre-amp mains. Via a suitable relay.

Seems not now. They do a two gang plus one gang. So the other way is to use ordinary two gang boxes with the knockout box spacers (at the very bottom of the boxes page). But do make sure the wiring accessories you choose will fit - some metal types may not.

Do you mean like this

or are you looking for something to install permanently in the wall?

Yes, I only said 'near' impossible, I know they do exist. Quite expensive though compared with 'ordinary' ones.

You quite often find that on some of the "vertical" power distribution boards designed for data cabinet racks:

The prices may be "reassuringly expensive" compared to your average chinesium trailing lead though!
