More pragmatically, I live in a 4-seasons area, and my shop shares two walls and a door with air conditioned/heated living space, and no opening to the outside. So if wood is stable in my shop, a rule of thumb like IDIOT needs to be reversed when I am building in the winter.

Possible Gloat/real gloat

I finally got my shop arranged in such a way as the width of the saw works in my 16' wide shop. I ended up building an add on storage area, and pretty much rearranging everything. How has the combo unit you got been working out? I was just in your neck of the woods yesterday.

LIght duty busway?

Replacing Porter Cable sander bearing....

The thing I like most about my PC is that I can use it with a Shop Vac without a fancy expensive adapter.....the Bosch sanders with the funky rectangular dust cannister look like they wont hook up that well with a shop vac.

Most often used stationary tools

Is my Shop-Vac a stationary power tool ?? :) I think my time when working solid wood would be as follows: 1/ bandsaw 2/ jointer 3/ tablesaw 4/ drillpress If I'm working sheet stock then the bandsaw and jointer don't enter into the equation much.

Followup on PSI DC muffler post

She compared the noise levels to "louder than the RAS" before and "quieter than the shop vac" ( an old Craftsman) after... she said that it made quite a difference in noise level and tone... I think the biggest difference in the shop is the tone... a less irritating level, maybe...

I have found them to be bullet proof; I have enough confidence in them that when I started my own shop I didn't even consider anything else. But having said that I would say any of the industrial strength sanders will work for you i.e. milwaukee, porter cable, bosch, dewalt. Now!

circuit breaker selection Maybe OT

This may be a bit off topic, however, I have just wired in an electric heater for my shop. The heater is a 208/240V @ 19.6 amps. The breaker that supplies my shop (detached) is a double pole 10A 10AWG 3+ground.

Petrol mower overwintering help

If you wait until grass needs to be cut and your mower does not start and needs shop repair, you can bet that your's will be in a long line at the shop and may take weeks to get to. Same applies to snow throwers and generators.

Who Makes Blast Gates That Don't Get Clogged?

But the air line I ran to the shop last winter sure helps with that task. The set-up is still more efficient, even with the occasional need to clean the gates. If I had to do it before every use, then, no, it wouldn't be more efficient.
