i have been needing a mortiser and a local store has a shop fox for 159 bucks. is that a good machine and a good price? any other recomendations?
My thinking is that I'll be able to gliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide across the shop from jointer to saw to planer.
It might seem like a moot point, but it's a big plus in keeping a tidy shop.

Well, upper mid-range for the casual basement/garage shop. Pretty good contractor saws are available for less than that. FWW had a review not too many issues ago...
There's a shop here that rents time at (last time I checked a couple of years ago) $25/hr to use everything except the *big* resaw bandsaw.

I use a 36" industrial fan from Costco and with taped-on filters to draw air through the shop with WB. Makeup air comes from upstairs in the house.
