OT: Ping stamp collectors

It can sometimes be difficult to find a spot to park outside the shop, if so go south east about 100yds and turn left up Durrants Hill Road (the road on the same side of the A4251 as the stamp shop) between the Bull Pub and the community centre (converted church).

OT: I Don't Think This Company Should Go Bankrupt But - Good Lord!

Now I use a local one man shop. I've bought my two home computers and about 10 at work. If there is a problem, I drop it off when he gets in the shop at 10 AM and pick it up at lunch time, all fixed. Network problem? He comes to me. Price is very competitive with Dell, Gateway, ...

Removing the drive pulley from my MTD Yardbug

I was at the small engine shop today on a different problem. Asked him what the charge would be. $110 to replace both belts or $140 if the drive belt is actually 2 belts (it is on some apparently, with an intermediate pulley). Cost of belts $30 each.

Installing In-Floor Heat in New Shop

I've installed the piping in the concrete slab of my new shop and am wondering about an alternative way of heating the glycol. The boiler systems are fairly expensive. I know of some people who have used hot water tanks to heat the fluid.

A Common But Nasty Problem?

The guy who cost me $600 to videotape my main line used a shop vac to clean it out. I could have done that myself. And what he "discovered" with his expensive camera was nothing I couldn't have predicted myself. The shop vac works. It also works for clogged kitchen and bathtub ...

Making topsoil

I have a long counter that gathers junk, in front of large windows facing east and under a huge fluorescent shop light. Good place to grow plants, right? Is it feasible (and reasonable) to swap out the ballast and tubes in the shop light to turn it into a grow light?

Planer

I'm a high school shop teacher. The Woodworking 2 course shop has the Dewalt 735 planer. The planer has survived three years of student use and abuse and is still in good working condition.

woodworking outside

Got no indoor shop! I'm new at this, but any wood working I'm doing is outdoors cuz I got no PBS laser-guided-air-conditioned-vacuum-dusted-sodium-lighted-roll-up-doored shop. Jes me and the breeze and a few power tools. Don't give me that Yankee workdork crap, either.
