new 14" Powermatic Bandsaw - 6" riser wait

He was salivating over it and wanted to replace the saw in his own shop with it. He told me there was a long wait on the riser blocks, but I thought he said it is much longer than a couple of months.

Dust removal question: Standard fittings to shopvac

If I had a router shaper table that was closed on the bottom and wanted to collect dust with a shop vac, is there a standard fitting to plug the hose onto? I want to mount the fitting on the table and be able to attach a shop vac or standard vac hose to it.

I went from a Crapsman contractor's TS to a Unisaw and purchased all the other goodies I've wanted to have a decently equipped shop. I was taught at a young age to use the right tool for the job.

Does anyone have a 2 or 2 annahalf " DC system?

I have a real DC system and think the Shop-Vac works better with handheld tools. It's been described as velocity vs. volume to me, but I'm not sure I understand. The DC does a great job on jointers, planers, router tables, etc... The Shop-Vac is king for sanders, biscuit joiners, ...

For this reason I favor depositing them with someone that would use them, but if you like the display concept better I would like suggest talking to local shop teachers or wood workers suppliers.

Question about dust collection

In a shop your size it's tough to beat an outfit like the JET two-stage DC at http://www.woodworkingshop.com/ . In spite of the precipitator advocates, it's much more efficient to capture at the source.

Pressure Vacuum Cleaner for Whole House

gfretwell - Nehmo - What size motor does your shop vac have? gfretwell - Nehmo - Considering the inevitable leaks, it would take an enormous compressing fan to blow the roof off. (Your shop vac turned around wouldn't make that pressure in a house.)

Gloat - dumpster diving find

Well I was out to get a new plug for the weed wacker when I noticed in the Door and Mill shop next door were two hollow core doors in the dumpster. Went over and found they has some minor scuffing but totally together. Each one was 6x2.

Why use a plate on router tables?

When I made my first one, the shop that I worked at at the time had five router tables, all made this way. Their logic is simple. If they need more than that, they go to the shaper. The fancy router tables are found mostly in the home shop.
