OT Firefox using lots of memory

I see it as a get out of jail free card. It allows you to shut down one or two apps to let the system catch its breath, rather than it all collapsing in a heap.

[Slightly OT] - is there telephone s/w out there

I'm looking for a bit of (free) software which will enable me to talk over a land line through headphones and mike over my computer I have a fax card somewhere, I don't want to talk skype, just normal land line phone calls

How to make room light turn on an additional lamp?

The fluorescent shop light is plugged into the appliance module. What would happen is that the motion detector would trigger the appliance module to turn on, which in turn powered the shop light but the appliance module would almost immediately turn off, plunging me back into ...

One Project at a time...

I was watching Wood Works today, and noted the lack of evidence of any other incomplete projects in David Mark's shop. Norm's shop seems to be the same way (but I don't claim to be an expert on that.) Personally, I work on multiple projects at a time.

drylining and insulating walls

I am renovating a shop. Its probably never been heated but isn't damp. The front shop is victorian and lined with the original wood panelling, which we'll keep. The back section of the shop about 7m x 5m I was intending to dry line.

Electrical Regs 2002 and earth bonding

About ten years ago I bought a building that contains: basement workshop, ground floor shop, first floor flat, second floor flat. Picture at http://mdfs.net/User/HWPS/shop.htmThere are two supply meters: basement+shop, flat1+flat2.

Happy with HD (sort of)

The "shop lights" that I replaced (Lights of America) were two 40W tubes, the Lithonias are four 32W tubes. Some crude meassurements of light output with a 50 year old GE light meter at the same distance showed about 30 candlepower from the shop lights and over 75 from the Lithonias.

Detached Garage Workshop Question...

Poplar dust

I have a 16x20 basement shop with one window a dust collector and a Jet air filter system. The problem is that I had the window closed and the air filter wasn't running. No mask either. In retrospect I guess I should run the air filter whenever I'm inthe shop and I think in the future ...
