sheet goods software

Tried several and settled on the "Sheet Cutting Suite" from these folks: http://www.optimizecutter.com/The free version is full featured except that the layouts cannot be printed. No real hindrance for hobby type work, but would be a pain to use in a production shop.

Kreg Jig advice

Free shipping too. :) Well, on orders of $25 or more, anyway. But before you get to feeling too jealous, I made a bit of a "screw"-up. I decided on the pocket hole method while I was away from my home shop, and ordered screws assuming the wood was 3/4". It's 1".

Why are extension cords hard to use?

Cadillacs answer was a free trickle charger. They bought him several batteries on warranty and they had it in the shop for days each time. They tried playing with software changes and all sorts of load testing. Finally they just made him a deal on a trade.

Yet another MDF thread

Fessenden-Hall (1-800-220-2233) carries a formaldehyde-free product called "Extira". A square foot cost on less than ten sheets of 49 x 97 x 3/4 is $1.21 (compare this with regular MDF at $0.58 per sq ft) .

The government ruined the gas can...

One fire department near me bought a couple 5 gal metal cans of "ethanol free" gasoline. For the small engines they use in the trade. I told them of the couple gas stations nearby that had ethanol free gas, but they didn't seem to be interested.

I suggest you visit Lowe's or HD and look a door samples for Martin Doors. or visit their site.* This door qualifies for a tax credit. A single door cost me $1200.00 (no new rails, windows or opener).

CAD Software

There is/was a free version of TurboCAD available from their web site... a couple of issues out of date (V7 IIRC) but fully functional.
