Shop shots

Well, after salivating over robatoy's shop pics, how about a group effort? Post your shop pic to abpw to show off where you work. No doubt we'll all get good ideas on layout, tools, etc.... from everyone else. I'll put mine up tomorrow morning.

220 electrical outlets?

The shop is 30'x54' with 10' walls and will be insulated to R-20 in the walls and R-38 in the ceiling. I have natural gas available and am trying to decide between using one or two of the ventless "blue flame" gas units or a single ceiling mounted vented gas furnace.

The Shop

You know, there ain't no Republicans in my shop. There ain't no Democrats, neither. There ain't no Conservatives and there ain't no Liberals. It is equally lacking in Socialists, Communists, John Birchers, MADD women, NOW women, or women in general.

Shop lighting

Ok, I have an unheated shop (miniscule though it is). For the most part, I won't be doing stuff when it is below around 40 or so, though. I know about fluorescents with cold start ballasts. What else do y'all use/suggest?

Shop dog

For the past 7 years, my Labrador has been joining me in the shop, a good companion, never underfoot, constantly watchful, and thinking who knows what dogs think.

Messy shop

If I get a couple of days of clear weather (very possible) this week, I'm planning to do a top-to-bottom "Augean Stables", "GI cleaning" type of clean-out of the shop. Over the winter, I just dropped stuff where I could and now I have to move it all around to get to things.

Shop Vac

Several years ago I bought a Shop Vac QPS 10. I have used it a lot around the shop and yard. My problem is the switch gave up the ghost and I am trying to replace it. I went to a local part supply house and they said that they could get me the part 82318-10 for about $3 plus $9 ...

Shop ventilation

I have a basement shop that takes up about 1/3 of my basement. Whenever I finish a project, I find that the sweet aroma of turpentine or linseed oil permeates the house. SWMBO agrees, substituting "awful smell" for "sweet aroma". I'd like to put in a small exhaust fan to the outside.
