Why did my fireplace door glass shatter

The glass shop cut it to size, ground edges, returned it to mfg. to be tempered. We picked it up from the shop and installed it. Total about $50.

Why are snap-on toolboxes so darn expensive?

A good portion of my hand tools are Craftsman and they have held up just fine for a long time in my relatively heavy duty home shop environment (full machine shop really).

wish me luck

With luck, our offer on a short sale here in town will result in me getting a good sized garage to double as a shop. I have no intention or desire to restore my former shop in NC, but would definitely add a few tools and things to be able to do some serious woodworking again.

gutters are too HIGH!

I use a shop vac to clean mine. I made a long pipe section with a U at the end of it out of central vacuum tubing (thin and light). It has an OD that is exactly the same as the ID of the shop vac hose.

those little plastic things...

Given that it is about 8 years ago since I got them the hardware shop is probably long gone. It was just a question of every time I was in a small country town I checked out the local hardware shop. Some of these shops have stocks that are years old.

The last time I bought [some component or other] at Maplin there was a chap in a cupboard at the back of the shop who found and bagged the components, and gave me an invoice to be paid at the front of the shop.

It was supposed to be post-puncture, to let you drive to a tyre-shop, I can't see Honda supplying it if it was illegal ...

Perculiar lawn mower problem

Spend the $50 or $60 and find a reliable small motor repair shop. I paid $70 to have my garden tractor's carb cleaned. It would have been much cheaper if I could have delivered the mower to the shop myself. As it was, the bill included pick up and delivery of the tractor.

Is organic gardening viable?

OTOH I can fully believe that a home-grown iceberg lettuce doesn't taste much better than a shop one. A home-grown cos lettuce outshines a shop one, though -- even when grown under far-from-ideal conditions, ie with me as gardener!

Air Duct Cleaning ? Results ?

If you are good with a shop vac than you can probably get it yourself. If your situation is as bad as Nancy's then you should probably hire a professional who has something much better than a shop vac.
