"Merry" Xmas

*grin* Happened to me on a 2 week site visit in New Jersey. Fortunately, there was a large mall with some kind of speedy glasses place in it opposite the data centre, so I popped in there and they made me another set overnight.

Funky looking dovetails

There's a pretty cool "dovetail" from the late Victorian era - a sort of scalloped edge with round pins. Reminds me of lace.

Tire Tread Noise?

Interesting.... my ex-usual Firestone shop changed managers and are not trying to up-sell everything, plus they lost their good mechanics. A few weeks ago I went in for some tires, and they upped the quote by about 25% with unnecessary crap, like warranties no never need.

Distaff woodworking

I recall now, back in the late 60's in jr. high shop class. Boys had to take shop, which was metal shop, woodshop, and mechanical drawing. Girls had to take home ec, and there were no exceptions.

Almost any metal shop (and some locksmiths) can fabricate for a few dollars any striker plate you want.
