Fireplace cover when starting fire

I'm sure I've seen them for sale in the local fireplace/stove shops (or was it in the hardware shop?). Properly shaped, galvanized metal, with a handle on the back.

Beginners guide to network switches

You can get 'isolation' between machines on some routers but a managed switch might be good for my mate in the PC shop to isolate customer machines in for repair from his own / shop machines?

The girl who says 'no'

In a past life I used the Hardware Shop round the corner. If the owner was not there his wife was, she knew every bit of stock in that shop. After 27 years they sold up to a young lad. He did not have a clue. The shop is now a hairdressers.

A/C condensation problem

Ideally with a shop vac, you collect up the blockage into the shop vac. Good idea to wash out the shop vac, and dump the blockage outdoors or into the toilet. A little bit of pool bleach into the open top of the tube sounds good. Might make the house smell like pool. - ...

N95 face masks - advice

Each has its place in the shop/arsenal against dust/mists, etc. Masks work fine for mowing and weedeating. Respirators (with the proper filter carts) work for spraying pesticides and working with ammonia, etc.

Dust Collection Ports

ridgid shop vacs with 16 gal tank - typical animal with good capacity. I've been using it for the top of the router table. I tried the DC with 4" to 1.5" reducer. The shop vac won. Then I tried the DC with 4" to 2.5" reducer.

Where to put DC port on router table?

On my home built router table I bored a hole on the side just big enough to shove my shop vac hose into it. The lower part of the table is a sealed box, with an access door on the side that seals well.

Anyone have experience with the new JET DC-1200CK dust collector?

They have a shop used for custom building and teaching. The DC network for their shop is powered by a Jet DC1200CK. They have access to a range of brands and sizes and this is what they selected for their own shop. Bob

Lee Valley Radiant Heater

If you are looking for a heater that will furnish a uniform heat to all parts of the shop, this isn't it. I use it in conjunction with another heater to make the shop comfortable. Mine is suspended form the ceiling and pointed at my back, at a distance of about 6 feet or so.
