OT Joke Shop Class

It was the first day of the school year and the shop teacher was surprised to see a rather "princess-like" young lady sitting in the front row of the classroom. Her name was Judy and she was the only girl to sign up for the woodworking shop class that term.

shop Drawer making question

Hi Gang, here's the gig: I recently scored a bunch (like 100) of old WW2 RPG cases that I plan to use as drawers for some shop storage. They're basically wooden boxes about 2' long, and about 6x6". They're finger jointed together.

New Shop Floor question

I am in the process of building a new shop (24' x 30') and I have a question regarding the concrete floor. They just poured the slab yesterday and I noticed that the guy didn't put in any expansion joints. Is this going to cause a problem for me down the road?

Shop-vac: a gloat

Yesterday I found a 20 gallon, 6 hp Shop-vac with hose in the dumpster behind the local shopping area. I brought it home, cleaned it up, emptied the body, put in a bag and started it up. It works POIFECT. Good strong suction and no holes. Agki

New work shop ideas ...

I have a unique opportunity with our current move; to build a purpose built work shop. I am starting with a 24' x 24' garage plan with stairs to "loft" storage. Building will be insulated and have heat pump HVAC.

Shop made mallet plan

Yeah, I know - do a google search - I did. All the links to plans are ancient and I could not find a single one that works. Does anyone have any fresh links? I'm interested in making a mallet using the laminated wood technique with a flat face. I don't own a lathe. Thanks, Bob

Shop Fox spiral heads

If somebody has experience or relevant comments on the spiral heads used in Shop Fox machines, I would like to know. My main interest is the W1724 Planer. The second interest is the W1705 Jointer. I think that the Grizzly G0526 is from Shop Fox, but I don't know the original model ...

Shop made molding planes?

Do any of you make your own molding planes? Was wondering if this was something that was done regularly (relativly speaking) or just not feasible. I'm thinking more along the lines of a real plane here, not a scratch stock. If there is a web resource or if anyone knows a good book that would be ...

Parks' Wagon Shop Special

Google and the OWWM site have shown nothing on one of these, and hardly anything on its cousin(?) the Planing Mill. Here in the UK they're _really_ rare. I was hoping to finally see a square-head planer, but as these things were built in the '20s (?) I guess they're too late.
