Has this ever happened to you?

Since having to wear glasses in the shop the last year or so, I ve done significantly more "misreading" than previously. Maybe I should get a pair of bifocals for the shop and leave the 'progressive lenses' in the house R

The Shake - repost

I walked into the shop to get a large can of acrylic white I'd left there. As I walk into the shop I make a bee-line around the junk laying everywhere and make one small mistake - I tread on the shop-dog's tail.

Lighting wiring centres

Those do not consume any cable ways so common for "free". You can break off odd pins so you can common every 2nd or 3rd block. The earth blocks common via the rail.

OT Still in the Stone Age rant

He found a receipt from a shoe-repair shop dated 1938! Since the shoe-shop was still in business, he thought he might have some fun. Entering the shop, he walked to the counter and handed the cobbler the receipt.

Look around for shops closing down or find somewhere that sells (removed) second hand shop fittings. The ones in my shop are very strong and sturdy I will be closing the shop down at the end of october and will be using mine in my workshop they are ideal for that type of use.

What length ladder and best place to buy them?

If you only want it for occasional use, why don'y you check out the local hire shop. a 9m ladder from my local shop is 13.30 a weekend. In my experieence the hire shop won't let you hire unsuitable equipment, and they have the top quality idiot proff stuff. Rick

Pumps for vacuum veneering

A shop vac will produce 6 or 7 inches on a good day. What about combining the shop vac to pull the bag down quickly, then draw it down the rest of the way with a diaphragm pump or a Gast type pump - or even an old refrigerator unit. see: ...

How did you come to be in woodworking?

When I was a kid in grammer school (pre-1966) I used to enjoy hanging out in my grandpa's shop in his basement. Add to that my uncle up there in St Albans, Vermont used to build boats for Lake Champlain and my own father's woodworking shop and I was hooked before I was 12!
