I want to build a loft above my shop for wood storage; vertical wood posts, beams, joists and T&G plywood for the floor. The floor of the shop is a slab on grade. I have plenty of height so there is no problem there.
I am finishing out my shop and need help with the ceiling. The actual structure is one of those portable metal buildings (14'x28') with a gambrel style roof. I insulated the sides with r19 insulation and covered with enameled hardboard.
Went to look at a Delta 8" jointer from a local shop that was closing, and ended up purchasing all the machinery and attachments. [ Not a gloat, since I think the price, while good, was fair ].
I'm starting with an unfinished basement with insulation in the walls. A few questions: - Seems like quite a few shops have untaped drywall walls - is this to preserve the possibility of pulling and replacing a panel for making electrical changes, etc. behind the drywall? - I'm leaning towards ...
After 18 years in the same location it is now time to move the shop to larger premises. Right now we have 10000 sq ft taking up five warehouse bays in a row all connected by 5 x 10 doors. (A real pain in the ass to move things around.)
I can't really figure out what I should buy for cleaning up sawdust in my garage shop. I currently have a QSP 10 gal shopvac. The noise doesn't bother me too much but it does have other issues. I've never fill it more than 3 inches before the paper filter clogs.
I have had some problems with rust on my tools (tablesaur, jointer) in my shop in the last couple of springs during the rainy damp season. So this year, I picked up a used dehumidifier for $20 (it even works!)
I am a blacksmith by hobby, and the tools and 'machines' have to either be made on the blacksmith shop, or bought in some fashion that would demonstrate the age and 'originality' of that item's use in the desired time frame.
What uses would a microwave have in the shop? I have seen info about this before but cannot remember any uses. Does anyone use one in their shop and what do you use it for? Thanks for any suggestions guys. Rusty snipped-for-privacy@aol.com
